A hypothetical situation where 20 CEO’s board an airplane and are told that the flight that they are about to take is the first-ever to feature pilotless technology: It is an uncrewed aircraft. Each one of the CEO’s is then told, privately, that their company’s software is running the aircraft’s automatic pilot system. Nineteen of the CEO’s promptly leave the aircraft, each offering a different type of excuse.
One CEO alone remains on board the jet, seeming very calm indeed. Asked why he is so confident in this first uncrewed flight, he replies : “If it is the same software that runs my company’s IT systems, this plane won’t even take off.” !!!!
That is called Confidence!!!
Makes me wonder if CEO’s buy their own STOCKS???? π

[…] asked “What is confidence?” at Fortune Watch. I realize it’s a humor piece, but it struck me as funny enough to read more than once. […]

I almost fell off my chair laughing…!!! You should have put a statutory warning before the post, saying “Wear your seatbelts, please”…. lol
Isn’t this like that cartoon where we see a restuarant doors locked, with a sign hanging on the door: “CLOSED. Chef gone out for lunch.”
And that IS self-confidence, isn’t it?… lol
July 30th, 2007 at 7:47 pm
Oh… that’s funny!
Most of the CEOs, now a day, just want the cash option. No stuck option any more.
I guess Bill Gates is using Apple PowerBook.

Hey Zakman,
Sorry for not putting that statutory warning mate, all the same glad you enjoyed the post.
Take care and cheers

Hey Terence,
You are right mate, the cash option for a CEO is high, The yahoo CEO makes 135 million bucks a year, I want that job only for a week π
Thanks for your comment, take care and cheers.

Robin:
That’s right. For a week. That will be nice!

Yo mate,
Nice post!
You know what? These buggers CEOs and Directors better be buying their own stock, if not I won’t be touching it with a ten foot pole!
I always like to see that the management has majority share ownership. Especially the head.
This shows that the company is doing good and well.
I’ve seen some heads that hold only less than 1%! That is utterly pathetic! Lol…
Cheers buddy!
FW’s always a damn good blog..as ever…
